There are a number of family-friendly winter carnivals and winter festivals being held in New Hampshire this winter so be sure to bundle up and hit the road for some fun.

Winter Carnival at White Park in Concord, NH

White Park in Concord will welcome hundreds of people to its annual winter carnival. The day includes a family parade, speed skating competitions and sledding contests. There will be a bonfire to warm up by and plenty of s’mores to munch on. This event is free to attend.


18th Annual Ice and Snow Festival in Keene, NH

When: Saturday, February 1, 2020 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Keene Ice and Snow Festival is held at Central Square in downtown Keene, NH. This family-friendly winter carnival includes snowball fights, ice sculpture competitions and plenty of hot cocoa sipping. This event is free to attend.


New London Winter Carnival

When: February 5-9, 2020

Enjoy ice skating, an ice hockey tournament, magic show, wagon rides, scavenger hunt, BBQ, kids activities, snowshoeing, a s’mores party and fireworks. Don’t miss the dinner with Jack Frost, which takes place outdoors under tiki torches and all families are welcome.


Dartmouth College Winter Carnival

This annual winter carnival is open to Dartmouth College residents as well as locals and visitors. Annual festivities include a snow sculpture contest, snow golf, discounts and special races as Dartmouth Skiway, a polar bear plunge and dogsled racing. This event is free to attend.


Winterfest at The Farm at Eastman’s Corner in Kensington, NH

Winter fun for everyone. Activities for kids, live band, food truck, free samples, farm animals and fire pits. Rock out to the live band or enjoy a free horse-drawn sleigh or wagon ride. If there’s snow, the hill will be open for sledding (bring your own).


Frozen Farm Festival at Stonewall Farm in Keene, NH

Featured activities include sledding into the cow pastures (bring your sled), guided snowshoe hikes, activities for kids, sleigh rides, food and a hot cocoa bar. Also help the community create one huge igloo.


Newport, NH Winter Carnival

This year marks the 104th annual winter carnival in Newport, NH. Fun includes a fishing derby, ice hockey games, ski joring, murder mystery dinner, fireworks and more. A full schedule of events festivities can be found here. This event is free to attend.


Squam Lakes Winterfest at Squam Lakes Association in Holderness, NH

From skating, pond hockey, cross-country skiing, sledding, mini golf, to a bonfire and live animal programs with the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, this event is not to be missed. Try one or all of the styles of chili during the Chili Contest.

17th Annual Ice Harvest and Winter Carnival in Tamworth, NH

This is a signature event for the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm in Tamworth, NH. Enjoy family-friendly outdoor winter games, indoor crafts, try your hand at ice carving and harvesting, meet and greet with animals from the farm and enjoy a scavenger hunt.


Annual Winter Carnival at Wasserman Park in Merrimack, NH

This fun-filled free day will be filled with snowman building, snow art, an ice fishing derby as well as various arts and crafts. There will be indoor and outdoor fun.


Wolfeboro Winter Carnival: Winter Wonderland

Events are held throughout Wolfeboro including Abenaki Ski Area and Pop Whalen Ice Arena and include a big air competition, free ice skating, snowshoeing workshop, sleigh rides, animal tracking, primitive fire building, inflatable obstacle course competition, pancake breakfast as well as ski and snowboard races.
