Note from the Editor: PNH Camp Fairs cancelled, other events in flux across state
ParentingNH made the decision today to cancel its annual Summer Camp Fairs scheduled for March 14 in Manchester and March 21 in Nashua.
It has become clear in the past 48 hours that we need to err on the side of caution and follow the lead of other organizations in NH and throughout the country in not holding our events. As of March 13, there were only 6 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in New Hampshire. But we, along with health professionals, believe that the best strategy to slow down how fast the virus spreads is to practice social distancing whenever possible. And the earlier we can all do that the better.
Several events are still planning to go ahead in the next few weeks, but the situation could change. We will do our best to keep our online calendar updated but we urge you to call ahead to make sure an event has not been postponed or cancelled.
Life has not stopped in New Hampshire. Many of us are going to work, to school, to the supermarket. Restaurants, libraries, small venues and museums are still open. Small businesses can especially use your patronage. This is not a time to panic but instead a time to think of our most vulnerable citizens and exercise caution. Wash your hands, cough into your elbow and stay home when are sick.
We hope that if all of us join together in fighting the spread of the virus life will soon return to normal in the Granite State and include again all those events, attractions and places that make this a great place for families.
