MCMS student named to National Youth Orchestra

Manchester Community Music School student Roric Cunningham, 17, of Manchester, has been invited to be a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America.

Each summer, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young players from across the country to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States. Students undergo an extensive and competitive audition process. Selected participants come together for a three-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians. NYO-USA returns to Asia this summer. The tour kicks off with the orchestra’s annual concert at Carnegie Hall, continuing with stops in Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, and Daejeon.

Rory has studied cello under the direction of Harel Gietheim since 2012. He is also a member of the Dino Anagnost Youth Symphony Orchestra.
