There are a number of family-friendly winter carnivals and winter festivals being held in New Hampshire this winter so be sure to bundle up and hit the road for some fun.

Hooksett Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Donati Park in Hooksett

Head to the Hooksett Town Hall gym and Donati Park fields for a fun day featuring professional ice sculptures, outdoor games, sledding, ice skating, snow shoeing, mountain biking, cook-offs, food vendors and more. This event is free to attend.


17th Annual Keene Ice and Snow Festival

When: Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: Central Square in Keene

Now in its 16th year, the Keene Ice and Snow Festival is held at Central Square in downtown Keene, NH. This family-friendly winter carnival includes snowball fights, ice sculpture competitions and plenty of hot cocoa sipping. This event is free to attend.


Winter Carnival at White Park

When: Saturday, February 2, 2019
Where: White Park in Concord

White Park in Concord will welcome hundreds of people to its annual winter carnival. The day includes a family parade, speed skating competitions and sledding contests. There will be a bonfire to warm up by and plenty of s'mores to munch on. This event is free to attend.


New London Winter Carnival

When: February 7-10, 2019
Where: New London

Enjoy ice skating, an ice hockey tournament, magic show, wagon rides, scavenger hunt, BBQ, kids activities, snowshoeing, a s'mores party and fireworks. Don't miss the dinner with Jack Frost, which takes place outdoors under tiki torches and all families are welcome.


Newport Winter Carnival

When: February 7-10, 2019
Where: Newport

This year marks the 103rd annual winter carnival in Newport, NH. Fun includes a fishing derby, ice hockey games, ski joring, murder mystery dinner, fireworks and more. A full schedule of events festivities can be found here. This event is free to attend.


Dartmouth College Winter Carnival

When: February 7-10, 2019
Where: Dartmouth College in Hanover

This annual winter carnival is open to Dartmouth College residents as well as locals and visitors. Annual festivities include a snow sculpture contest, snow golf, discounts and special races as Dartmouth Skiway, a polar bear plunge and dogsled racing. This event is free to attend.


Derry Frost Festival

When: Friday, February 8 through Sunday, February 10, 2019

Auburn Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 4 -7 p.m.
Where: Skating Rink and Safety Complex in Auburn

If you still have your Christmas tree kicking around (let's be honest, many of us do have them still in the backyard), then consider bringing it to the winter carnival for the annual burning of the Christmas trees. The Winter Carnival, held at the Auburn Safety Complex and skating rink, will include open skate time with a DJ, roasting marshmallows as well as yummy eats like hamburgers, hot dogs and hot chocolate.


Ice Harvest and Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, February 16, 2019
Where: Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm in Tamworth

This is a signature event for the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm in Tamworth, NH. Enjoy family-friendly outdoor winter games, indoor crafts, try your hand at ice carving and harvesting, meet and greet with animals from the farm and enjoy a scavenger hunt.


Alton Bay Winter Carnival

When: Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17, 2019

Wolfeboro Bay Winter Carnival: Winter Wonderland

When: Saturday, February 16 through Sunday, February 24, 2019
Where: Abenaki Ski Area and Pop Whalen Ice Arena in Wolfeboro Bay

Events are held throughout Wolfeboro including Abenaki Ski Area and Pop Whalen Ice Arena and include a big air competition, free ice skating, snowshoeing workshop, sleigh rides, animal tracking, primitive fire building, inflatable obstacle course competition, pancake breakfast as well as ski and snowboard races.


9th Annual Nansen-Milan Winter Festival

When: Friday, February 22 - Sunday, February 24, 2019

Enjoy the best of winter fun and sports including: bon fires, ice skating, hot cocoa, broomball games and broomball tournament, dog sled races, cross country ski races, winter market, kids races and much more.


27th Annual Winter Carnival at Wasserman Park

When: Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 12 – 3 p.m.
Where: Wasserman Park in Merrimack

This fun-filled free day will be filled with snowman building, snow art, an ice fishing derby as well as various arts and crafts. There will be indoor and outdoor fun.
