The Gingerbread House Contest is a great family event!!
The Trustees of Tattersall Farm, 542 North Broadway, Haverhill, will host an open house at the Farm from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9, 2018. The public is invited to visit the house to experience a New England Christmas as it may have been celebrated during the 1950s when the Tattersalls were in residence at the Farm. They will also have a rare opportunity to learn about New England farm life and its cultural and historical influence on the City of Haverhill. Christmas centerpieces donated by local florists will be raffled and visitors will vote on our display of gingerbread houses. A $5 donation per person and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will assist in the general operation of the Farm and its programming as well as the rebuilding of the barn.
Hayrides will be provided by Kimball Farm for a nominal fee from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Puppet shows will be scheduled, and we may even have a visit from Santa!
The public is invited to participate in the Farm’s annual Holiday Gingerbread House Contest which will be held during the open house. Contestants will enter a gingerbread house as either professional or amateur bakers, junior or child. An award will be given for amateur, junior and child categories.
Tattersall Farm was owned and operated by the Tattersall Family for a substantial portion of the twentieth century. Mary Alice Tattersall, the last surviving family member, died in 1999 and left the property to the City of Haverhill imposing specific conservation and open space preservation restrictions. The property is be to preserved and maintained by the 501C3 Tattersall Farm Charitable Foundation Trust to protect wildlife and conservation interests while educating the public on matters relating to farming and environmental conservation.
