Eight Restaurants Face-off in Annual PizzaFest Challenge

PizzaFest is a family friendly event happening on Saturday, November 3 from 5-7 p.m. at the Children's Museum of New Hampshire, where a ticket gets you a chance to taste-test a ton of pizza from 8 local pizzerias, and then vote for your favorite.

Dover’s pizza culinary power will be on full display on Saturday, November 3 during the Children’s Museum of NH’s PizzaFest. Will Kendall Pond Pizza be able to hold onto their “Most Creative Toppings” Judges’ Award again this year? Will La Festa Brick & Brew Pizzeria still wow the crowds with their traditional cheese? Will Papa Gino’s still win the hearts and taste buds of kids and walk away with the Kid’s Choice Award this year?

The 10th annual PizzaFest is happening from 5-7 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover. This popular family friendly pizza-tasting extravaganza is one of the Children’s Museum’s most popular fundraisers.  Participating this year are eight Dover-area restaurants including Dominos of Dover, Dover House of Pizza, Kendall Pond Pizza II, La Festa Brick & Brew Pizzeria, Papa Gino’s of Dover, Papa Jay’s Pizzeria, Strafford House of Pizza and Thirsty Moose Taphouse of Dover.

Each restaurant will bring piles of pizza for guests to taste, including traditional cheese and pepperoni, as well as one wacky topping that are not included on their regular menu. “We get such a huge range of toppings,” said Jane Bard, president of the Children's Museum. “We’ve had everything from a very traditional white pizza, to a spicy buffalo pineapple pizza!”

Discounted advance online tickets are on sale until 5 p.m. on Friday, November 2 and are $10 per adult and $7 for ages 3-10. Tickets sold at the door will be $12 per person and $7 for ages 3-10. Kids under the age of three are free.

An eclectic raffle will be available during PizzaFest featuring itmes like children’s books, jewelry, an American Girl Doll and book, a Philbrick Sports youth rental and lift ticket package, and more. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the front desk of the museum and are $5 for one sheet and $20 for 5 sheets.

Anyone attending PizzaFest can vote for their favorite restaurants and pizzas, as will three judges. Representing D.F. Richard Energy, PizzaFest sponsors, will be David Richard and Roland LaPointe. And local Accordian Musician and Composer Gary Sredzienski will also be a judge. Awards will be handed out at the end of the evening. Smuttynose Brewing Company will be offering their beers in a cash bar.

There will also be an online auction available starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 and running until Sunday, November 11 at 9 p.m. Bid on passes to local and regional attractions, restaurant gift cards, memberships to institutions, wine tastings, ski lift tickets, professional photography sessions and more. The online auction can be viewed at www.biddingforgood.com/CMNHPizzaFest.
